The Halfway Point

Today marks the exact halfway point in our trip. In recognition of this important day (and also because today happens to be a relatively uneventful day, which I will describe later), we present to you a recap of our first month of travel in South America.

We landed in Santiago, Chile where we toured the city and learned a lot about the country's history.

In Easter Island, we enjoyed the moai and deep culture of the  people.

Quito, Ecuador introduced us to a new altitude, a beautiful Gothic cathedral, and tiny, tiny streets and sidewalks.

Mindo took us to the edge of the rainforest and fed us chocolate. And showed us the butterflies.

The Galapagos took us to new depths where we got up close and personal with some pretty amazing animals.

Piura, Peru let us relax in its laid back, beautiful, and chill environment.

Lima showed us the amazing things it can do with horses, water, and food.

We still have some amazing things ahead of us, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, how did our Lima trip end, you may be asking? Well, we spent our last full day shopping at the big market where we got more cool stuff for good prices. We ate delicious food. And we got more delicious chocolate at the Choco Museo. Yum!

This morning we went to the post office to mail off our goodies. Bad news, they also did not have boxes, so we were a little concerned at first. Good news? There was a super nice lady there who has a savvy little packaging business right next to the post office. She came in and brought us everything we needed, and she even packed it for us. Not only does Peru have you put everything into a neat little box, like Ecuador, they also want it wrapped. But on a cloth sack, which our lady sewed shut by had. By far, this is the coolest box we have sent.

We then headed to the airport for our flight to Cusco. The altitude is pretty rough here, so we're taking it easy fort the evening. We have a nice hostel, though, with a good environment. From what we can tell already, though, Cusco is beautiful. The flight in was incredibly clear, so we had great views of the mountains. We're looking forward to our adventures here! Hopefully the altitude doesn't ruin it for us. ;)
